Stat Priorities

NOTE : About 30 minutes after this was posted, new Mythical Creature tiers and research were released. This testing does not apply to those – please stand by for further info.

Combat Stats

There has been a large shift in the Game of War combat system lately, which has led to a very large amount of confusion when it comes to the most basic part of GoW – which stats are most important. With the release of Mythical Creatures, this was thrown into a large amount of disarray. This post will show the testing that we have done to attempt to re-establish the Stat Priority for any situation in Game of War – Defense (trap bases or rally fillers), Attack (rally or solo), and the Wonder.

Game of War Stat Priorities

To skip all of the math and testing on mythical creature stats and troop stats and go straight to what we have come up with (though we do not recommend this), go here :

Stat Priority Testing – Attack

In order to attempt to discern the interplay between various stats, Mythical Creatures, and Troops, we went back to our roots on testing. This means that we set an account up such that it would suffer losses, but would not get zeroed. This is, obviously, easier said than done. We were testing using SOLO attacks (with Mythical Creatures in them, unless otherwise noted) and logging the number of Mythical Creatures killed per hit (because these are functioning as the meat shield).

SH Defense Setup

The defending Stronghold was set up for defense, using defense banners and Mythical Hero defense skills. One major catch : we did leave some Mythical Health skills untouched, with all Mythical Defense fully skilled. This was so we could swap those points later to establish which was best for defense (more on that later).

Test 1

Attacker Setup

  • Skilled fully for Mythical Creature Attack.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 0/5

Result : Hero captured, ZERO KILLS.

Test 2

Attacker Setup

  • Removed all Mythical Creature Attack skills and moved them to all forms of Troop/Trap Offensive Stats. Every tile that added any form of Troop or Trap Attack, as well as all Troop Debuffs were skilled.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 0/5

Game of War Mythic Testing
Result : Hero captured, ZERO KILLS.

Test 3

Attacker Setup

  • Remained with all forms of Troop/Trap Offensive Stats. Every tile that added any form of Troop or Trap Attack, as well as all Troop Debuffs were skilled.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 5/5

Result : Hero captured, 1.73M KILLS.
Analysis : Skilling into Health Eradication caused us to get some kills. This means that Mythical Creatures do receive some form of benefit from the stat that Health Eradication removes (presumably Super Troop Health).

Test 4

Attacker Setup

  • Swapped hero skills BACK to Mythical Creature Attack.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 5/5

Result : 1.6M KILLS.
Analysis : Setting skills OUT of Troop stats and INTO Mythical Attack stats resulted in LESS KILLS on the target. This means that TROOP ATTACK STATS were causing more damage to the defending creatures than MYTHICAL ATTACK STATS.

Test 5

  • Swapped hero skills BACK to TROOP ATTACK STATS. Removed TRAP ATTACK skills and moved them into MARCH SIZE SKILLS.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 5/5

Result : 1.78M KILLS.
Analysis : Setting skills OUT of Trap Attack and into March Size resulted in more kills than our previous high. This means that March Size is more important than Trap Attack.

Test 6

  • Left all skills exactly the same, but did not send ANY CREATURES WHATSOEVER. Only troops and traps.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 5/5

Result : 1.78M KILLS.
Analysis : There was zero difference between sending creatures and not sending creatures. This is a large deal, as it means that they are essentially useless against Strongholds at this point in GoW. This will likely change (soon) by more Creature attack being added.

Test 7

  • Left all skills the same. Removed all Multi-Kill skill points.
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 5/5

Result : 1.78M KILLS.
Analysis : Removing multi-kill resulted in zero difference again. This means that Multi-Kill does not effect Mythical Creatures, and is useless against Strongholds at this point.

Test 8

  • Left all skills the same. DEFENDER SWITCHED SKILLS FROM MYTHICAL CREATURE TYPE DEFENSE TO MYTHICAL CREATURE TYPE HEALTH (15 skill points).
  • Defense Eradication set to 5/5
  • Health Eradication set to 5/5

Result : 1.6M KILLS.
Analysis : Switching skills to Mythical Creature Health from Mythical Creature Defense yielded LESS KILLS. This means that Health is more important than Defense for Mythical Creatures (presumably up to a certain troop count, similar to health traps of old). As mythical creature count increases, it is assumed Defense will become more powerful.
